Stepping up the pace of digitization even more: that is the goal of the new partnership between DB Schenker and the start-up accelerator Plug and Play. The company based in California’s Silicon Valley established its European headquarters in the German city of Hamburg in 2019 – with the main focus being on supply chain and logistics. As a so-called “anchor partner”, DB Schenker has access to Plug and Play’s extensive network of innovation drivers, including tens of thousands of start-ups.
“DB Schenker has been at the forefront of a digital revolution in logistics and we will continue to drive change as a digital value generator for our customers,” said Markus Sontheimer, DB Schenker’s CIO and CDO. “We are excited to partner with Plug and Play’s unique and versatile network to start an exchange that leads us all forward in digitzing logistics.”
Saeed Amidi, the CEO and founder of Plug and Play, said: “With DB Schenker joining as an anchor partner at Plug and Play in Hamburg, we are excited to welcome a world-renowned expert in logistics to our network of corporates and start-ups.” The two partners are set to launch pilot projects in the near future – with the aim of identifying the first crop of suitable start-ups.
