DB Schenker in Austria is expanding its footprint in the country with a new logistics center near the city of Innsbruck. Plans for the facility, which is scheduled to begin operations on 60,000 square meters of space in Vomp in 2020, were recently unveiled. It will be located near the Inntal autobahn, one of the Alpine region’s main transit routes linking North and South Europe. This new logistics center will combine the operations of two smaller facilities.

The first building phase will see the construction of a 12,000 square meter contract logistics facility as well as a 4,000 square meter terminal for the transshipment of freight and a twelve meter high warehouse. Apart from ensuring smooth process handling, the plans for the facility will be focused on providing climate-friendly operations. For example, the buildings will be equipped with special heat insulation and LED lighting.
