In Austria and southeastern Europe as well as in the United States – both DB Schenker business units with over 7,000 employees – newly appointed CEOs have taken up their work. The first of these units has been headed up by Alexander Winter since December 1. In the United States, Jeffery Barrie took over as far back as November 1.
Alexander Winter, a law graduate born in Austria, has been working for DB Schenker for about 20 years. In his previous position, he was in charge of ocean freight and contract logistics activities at the Vienna headquarters of his cluster, which covers 14 countries and has over 80 branches. Winter sees his primary responsibility in “further expanding and permanently strengthening the leading position” of DB Schenker in his geographical region. He succeeds Helmut Schweighofer, who took over the position of Chairman of the Management Board of DB Schenker Europe on October 1.
Jeffery Barrie, DB Schenker’s new CEO in the United States, has been working in the logistics industry for over 25 years now. He joined DB Schenker in 2006, when his employer BAX Global at the time was acquired by the company. Most recently Barrie was Senior Vice President responsible for the Global Projects and Oil & Gas divisions.
“DB Schenker is today one of the largest integrated logistics services providers in the United States with over 7,000 employees in 39 branches and 55 logistics centers providing more than 21 million square feet of distribution operations to our clients,” said Jeffery Barrie. “I am looking forward to engaging with the team and customers to accelerate growth and performance.”
