Dear readers, in early 2017, and again at the start of this year, the strategy consultants at Oliver Wyman addressed the issue of digitization in logistics. The experts came to the conclusion that many logistics companies were struggling to keep pace with the speed at which data-driven solutions were transforming their industry. A year later, their results could not have been more different: providers have made a “major leap in digitizing their core business.”
In this context, it is also worth noting how DB Schenker is currently digitizing its entire transportation business. To learn more about this, I highly recommend the video interview with my fellow management board colleague, Ewald Kaiser, in this edition of “logistics NewsFeed“!
Our digitization strategy spans all divisions as well as the entire supply chain. One thing is certain: digitization is spurring a sea change in logistics. It is doing so at high speed – and in the worst case in such a far-reaching manner that customers are defecting to agile industry outsiders who have successfully occupied these business areas. Therefore, it is vital that we continue to strongly promote our digital competence and digital process execution. I, for one, am convinced that we are steering the right course.
