With about 750 facilities located around the globe, DB Schenker provides customers with over eight million square meters of warehouse space. Recently another 38,000 square meters were added, at a new logistics center in Augsburg, Germany. Two major customers in particular will benefit directly from the new warehouse: Kuka, an international automation group headquartered in this metropolis in southern Germany, and MediaShop, the market leader for online and teleshopping in German-speaking markets. Both companies are using the new facilities as a central warehouse location.
The design and construction of the facility is first rate: for example, the floor loading capacity is an above-average 7.5 tonnes, which means it is unrestricted in terms of its usage options. The equipment is also state-of-the-art. It includes a high-tech access control system that ensures maximum security. With the commissioning of this new warehouse, DB Schenker’s contract logistics space in the economically strong region around Augsburg has been boosted to a total of about 140,000 square meters.
